Damp Concrete Floor Under Carpet. The concrete should be arranged and tempered approximately to produce a dense mass. I want to lay carpet instead and was wondering what sort of damp proofing to do first. Can i lay carpet on a heavy duty plastic sheet or do i need to instead of braeking the floor up, i would suggest a drying regime first, to see if the floor will remain dry.
The concrete that is employed in the dpc should be perfectly executable. May still be able to use an engineered flooring is you add a cork vaper barrier. Unfortunately for you, traces of carpet glue may have lingered on the concrete, leaving you with the added task of removing it.

Unlike concrete, carpet is not resistant to water. Spills should be cleaned up immediately to prevent staining or ruining the carpet. You need to work out why the concrete is damp, rectify the issue, get the concrete dry, then paint it. Before we had carpets fitted we had condensation on windows etc but never noticed any water on the floors.
